Review of Disability Services

In late 2005, the Northern Territory Government instituted a review into the whole Disability Service System. This was in response to the challenges facing the sector in providing high quality services to people living with a disability and their carers.

The review looked at what the disability sector does; how services fit together and where they do not; how to manage increased demand while ensuring services are targeted according to need; how to increase access, infrastructure and capacity, particularly in remote areas; how to promote and monitor best practices in government and non-government disability services; and how to develop more effective partnerships.

The report from the consultants, KPMG, provides a roadmap for the future with clear recommendations to Government about how we need to reform the system and where we will need to invest to get the greatest gains.

The KPMG Report is available under Publications on the right hand side of this page.
