We are all getting older and government needs to plan for a future where there are many more older people.

Active ageing focuses on how people can maintain their good health, continue to remain mentally and physically active and retain their independence.

The publication, Building the Territory for all Generations - A Framework for Active Ageing in the Northern Territory, highlights what the Northern Territory Government has already achieved, identifies priorities that we will address over the next five years and includes ideas for community groups, organisations and businesses to assist people to age well.

It also contains ideas for individuals so they can take responsibility for their own active ageing.

The Minister for Senior Territorians will report to Parliament in August each year on the progress in implementing the framework.
