Movember (the month formerly known as November) is an annual charity event held during November.At the start of Movember guys register with a clean shaven face. The Movember participants, known as Mo Bros, have the remainder of the month to grow and groom their Mo, raising money along the way to benefit men's health - specifically prostate cancer and male depression.

You can be a Walking Class Hero on Friday 2 October 2009 by simply walking all or part of the way to work. Use public transport and get off the bus, train, tram or ferry a few stops earlier and walk the rest of the way. Or take a half-hour walk at lunch-time. And where possible, walk up stairs. But, PLEASE, leave the car at home. If you have to drive, leave the car at least a kilometre or two from your destination and walk the remaining distance.

Mental Health Week this year begins 4 October and ends with World Mental Health Day on the 10 October. The NT Mental Health Coalition's theme for this year is "Mental Health in the Workplace" and NTCOSS are running a number of events which will be showcased on the NTCOSS site in the Major Events area, as well as a calendar of events that will emcompass everyone's efforts for the week and will guide you to what is happening across the Northern Territory.

Young people aged 15 to 25 are encouraged to apply to join the 2010 Youth Minister’s Round Table of Young Territorians. Nutrition Week is a National campaign conducted by Nutrition Australia annually. The aim of National Nutrition Week is to raise the awareness of the importance of healthy eating for optimal health in the community. Nutrition Australia has adopted the 5 year theme of ‘Falling in Love with Food’. Nutrition Week enjoys the support of a multitude of government organisations and non-government organisations.

Carers Week is an awareness week held during October each year right across Australia. The event was established to promote and raise awareness of the valuable role that carers play in our community and to generate discussion about carer issues. Carers Week also provides an opportunity for carers to come together, support one another and share ideas and information.

Northern Territory children in both urban and rural areas are three times more likely to die or to be injured than children living elsewhere in Australia. This frightening statistic is due in part to the Northern Territory's unique climate and geography, as well as our lifestyle and culture. The Northern Territory Division of Kidsafe began in 1983 and works to reduce the terrible toll of accidents on Territory children.

The objective of the Symposium is to provide health care practitioners in the region with the opportunity to learn more about the latest treatments and interventions for people with complex diabetes and to debate the challenges of preventing and effectively managing diabetes and cardiovascular disease in Central Australia. Some of the topics include a review of epidemiology and public health aspects of diabetes, consideration of cardiovascular complications of diabetes and a review of current international trends in screening and diagnosis.
