Dr David Ashbridge
Chief Executive

With extensive experience in health services in the NorthenTerritory, Dr David Ashbridge was appointed Chief Executive of the Northern Territory Department of Health and Community Services in May 2007. David's experience includes as former Assistant Secretary of Health Services responsible for policy, planning and service delivery for Public Health and urban and remote Community Health Programs, clinical and public health medicine, and health services management and policy. David was also Assistant Secretary of the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing and Senior Medical Advisor.

Peter Beirne

Peter is a chartered accountant who has worked in a variety of public and private sector industries in New Zealand and England, including 10 years in the New Zealand health and disability sector. He has strengths in financial management, Information management, facilities management, human resources and governance.

Jenny Cleary
Executive Director
Health Services

Jenny was appointed Assistant Secretary Health Services in October 2006 following a 20 year career with the department in public health nutrition both in the Top End and Central Australia, health system reform, primary health care and public health services management and policy. She has a Masters Public Health and represents the NT on the Australian Population Health Developent Principal Committee. Jenny also played a key role in implementing the 3 successful remote area Northern Territory Coordinated Care Trials.
Prof Shane Houston

Systems Performance and Aboriginal Policy
Professor Shane Houston is a Gangulu man from central Queensland and has over 30 years involvement in Aboriginal affairs particularly in the health and employment fields. Shane is the Assistant Secretary Systems Performance and Aboriginal Policy and holds as well a number of appointments to Boards such as the Menzies School of Health Research and the Co-Operative Research Centre for Aboriginal Health. Shane graduated from Curtin University with a PhD in Health Sciences focusing particularly on Aboriginal health policy and resource allocation. He was recently received the Healing Our Spirit Worldwide Award, one of four internationally to receive the award in 2006 - 07.
Jenny Scott
Executive Director
Community Services
Jenny has held a range of positions in the social work field before being appointed Assistant Secretary Community Services in June 2007. Her experience includes practice, policy, research and education roles in both North Queensland and the Northern Territory and was Director, Community Services, Service Development Division and Director of Family and Children's Services. She co-authored the department's Family and Children's Services Policy and Practice Manual, coordinated the Caring for our Children Reforms and has led service developments in Mental Health, Family and Children's Services and Disability Services. Jenny has a Masters of Social Work and is a Public Sector Management graduate.
