Alice Springs Hospital (ASH) has announced firmer measures to address the vandalising of employees' vehicles and the theft of personal property in the staff car park. The strategy includes heightened security and enhanced adjusted lighting, according to ASH General Manager, Vicki Taylor, who said, "The safety of staff members and their property, including personal vehicles, is integral to the operation of the hospital and every effort is being taken to maximise security.
"This kind of antisocial activity is intolerable and it creates a feeling of discomfort in our workforce," Ms Taylor said.
"There have been 11 reported incidents of vehicles damaged and property stolen in the past few days. A continuation of these activities has the potential to impact on staff working at the hospital.
"As well as implementing tougher security measures we will continue to work closely with Alice Springs Police to bring about an end to incidents of this kind."
