Creative ideas for youth activities close this week

Tuesday 1 September 2009

Funding is now available to provide creative school holiday activities and projects for NT youth aged 12-25 years but applicants need to be quick. The Youth Holiday Vibe Grants program is sponsored by the NT Department of Health and Families (DHF) Office of Youth Affairs, and aims to encourage the development of youth skills, self-esteem, cooperation and trust.

The grants are open to individuals, groups, clubs, organisations, and businesses from anywhere in the Territory that are able to organise safe, secure-and fun-activities during December 2009/January 2010 school holidays. Young people will be actively involved in the planning, staging and evaluating of projects and activities, ensuring these reflect the needs and interests of youth.

Office of Youth Affairs Director Greg Broadfoot said, "Young people are an important part of what makes the Territory a vibrant and dynamic place. An investment in young people is an investment in the future of the Northern Territory. This funding will provide projects and activities to involve, entertain, educate and provoke thought, discussion and debate amongst our young people."

Two grants categories are available: up to $500, and up to $2,000. Funding will be provided to suitable projects which involve youths at all levels and are supported by and involve the local community.

Application forms for the Youth Vibe Holiday Grants are available fromwww.youth.nt.gov.au.
