Darwin beaches closed to swimming

The precautionary advice for swimming at East Point Beach was extended to Mindil Beach and Vesteys Beach today following the detection of high counts of the E.coli bacteria in sea water sampling results.
The Department of Health and Families today confirmed as a precautionary measure, that the East Point Beach will remain closed and Mindil Beach and Vesteys Beach will also be closed to swimming and fishing until further notice.
The Department of Health and Families is continuing to monitor sea water quality around the city's beaches. Every effort will be undertaken to isolate the source of the contamination. Daily monitoring will continue to be undertaken and people affected by the closure will be kept informed.
