A doctor who will provide clinical, academic and research leadership has been appointed to the position of Director of Medical Services and Education at Royal Darwin Hospital.
Royal Darwin Hospital General Manager Dr Len Notaras, AM, said Dr Peter Satterthwaite will take up the position from today.
The position became vacant following the appointment of Dr Notaras to the role of General Manager.
Dr Notaras said the role provides strategic and high level leadership in medical services at Royal Darwin Hospital, and across the Northern Territory through the Department of Health and Families Acute Care Network.
"Dr Satterthwaite is a GP who has made the transition to health sector management," he said.
"He currently holds the position of Director Clinical Planning and Patient Flow for the Capital and Coast District Health Board in Wellington, New Zealand.
"His previous positions include management and business management roles across various health agencies in New Zealand. His broad range of experience has translated into skills in areas of strategic and operational planning, policy development, information management and service planning."
Dr Satterthwaite also holds post Graduate qualifications include Master of Business Administration and a Master of Public Health.
