The winners of this year's NT Young Achiever Awards were announced last Saturday night at the annual gala presentation dinner held at the Holiday Inn Esplanade. Nine category winners were awarded and the overall 2009 Channel Nine Young Achiever of the Year was announced.
Nathan Frick, 23, of Nhulunbuy is the winner of the Minister for Young Territorians Excellence in Youth Leadership Award category of the 2009 Northern Territory Young Achiever Awards.
The Young Achiever Awards acknowledge, encourage and promote the positive achievements of young Territorians between 14 and 26 years of age.
The Department of Health and Families Youth Services Branch is a sponsor of the award. Director Debra Zupp congratulated Nathan. "Even though Nathan finished school in rural NSW, his heart and passion lie in all things Territorian, which has given him an extraordinary journey so far.
"This past year alone has brought many amazing opportunities to Nathan. He's been Chair of Headspace National Reference Group, CEO of Vibewire Inc, and volunteered for GetUp! Australia, The Oaktree Foundation, and Gove FM.
"To say Nathan is driven is an understatement. He loves working with young people on issues regarding youth and trades paid work and personal time for involvement in the community.
"He has spent hours travelling to meetings and forums to better youth and give them a voice. He is currently working for the advancement of East Arnhem youth through his self-created media and consulting business, which he is hoping will provide a strong communication within the communities", added Ms Zupp.
As the winner of the Minister for Young Territorians Excellence in Youth Leadership Award, Nathan received a $2000 TIO Build Up Saver Account and a magnificent trophy.
