Tennant Creek Hospital Board meets for the first time today (3 June 2010) following the appointment of the six new members in April 2010.The new Board members are:
- Narelle Bremner (Chair)
- Ray Willis
- Jasmin Afianos
- Elaine Willis
- John Gibb
- Meg Iles
Tennant Creek Hospital General Manager Angela Brannelly welcomed the new Board members, saying the role they will play in the operation of the hospital is an important one.
"The Board acts in an advisory capacity and has a direct line to the Minister," Ms Brannelly said.
"They will make recommendations about the hospital's future development and be involved in strategic planning and regional engagement processes.
"They also play an important part in monitoring the hospital's implementation of contemporary Australian health standards.
"It is a challenging role and I greatly look forward to working with this new team."
The Tennant Creek Hospital has been without a board for sometime having previously struggled to fill the voluntary positions.
Ms Brannelly praised the commitment of the new Board members and thanked them for their interest in the future of their local hospital, which is a much-valued community asset.
