Graeme Beasley cracks the big three-O

Northern Territory health worker Graeme Beasley has been commended for 30 years of loyal service to the Department of Health and Families.

Central Australian Remote Health Manager Peter Frendin said Mr Beasley-known by friends and colleagues as "GB"-has shown admirable dedication over the years to the health of the people in Central Australia

"I'd like to thank GB on behalf of the Department and all the people of Central Australia for a job well done. He has been working between Ali-Curung and Epenarra since 1979 and has continued in the position because he loves the job. And clearly the local people love him.

"I feel so proud to be working for the people," Mr Beasley said. "They put their trust in me to provide them with the best healthcare possible. I'm working for several tribes in the region but they are all my people.

"In the thirty years I've worked with the Department I've travelled between Ali-Carung and Epinara station, up to Harts Range, Canteen Creek and many other communities throughout the Barkly."

Mr Beasley said one of the hardest parts of the job was attending accidents on the highway.

"It was difficult seeing people on the road and knowing straight away it could be my own family or another member from the community. I would talk to and comfort the people at the scene because I knew them.

Mr Beasley will continue working for the Department of Health and Families as an Aboriginal Community Worker in Ali-Curung and Epenarra where he will provide education, health promotion and cultural security to the people of the region.
