Human Swine Flu Update

* Media please note: The Human Swine Influenza page on the Department of Health and Families website http://www.health.nt.gov.au now carries a table on Swine Flu in the Northern Territory. These figures are being updated regularly.

A woman who travelled from Melbourne four days ago remains in isolation in Darwin, with the pathology result for Human Swine Influenza (H1N1 Influenza 09) testing expected tomorrow morning (Wed. 3 June).

A woman who tested positive for Human Swine Influenza last Saturday is also in home isolation. 16 people who are asymptomatic (without flu-like symptoms) but regarded as contact cases are currently in home quarantine in Darwin.

In Alice Springs, a high school student who returned from Melbourne last Thursday and developed flu-like symptoms is in home isolation awaiting the results of pathology testing for Human Swine Influenza. As a result of her contact with teenage friends, family members and other adults, a total of 15 people are now in voluntary quarantine in Alice Springs. Public Health Nurses are liaising with these contacts to determine who might be experiencing symptoms and may require pathology testing.

Another Alice Springs high school student who returned from Melbourne recently has shown flu-like symptoms and has undergone medical assessment and pathology testing. She is in home isolation. The student's contacts are expected to be recommended for home quarantine.
