Nightcliff and Vesteys Beaches reopen

The precautionary advice for swimming at Nightcliff and Vesteys Beaches has been lifted after test results from two consecutive beach water samples showed greatly improved water quality with significantly reduced bacteria levels which no longer posed any risk to public health.

They had been closed since 7 September 2010.

Environmental Health Officers will continue weekly sampling at all other Darwin Harbour beaches and the public will be kept informed of any changes to the situation.
