Northern Territory H1N1 Influenza update

A middle-aged female Territorian with a number of serious medical conditions as well as confirmed H1N1 Influenza (human swine flu) died in Royal Darwin Hospital (RDH) late yesterday (Sat 1 Aug).

She is the fourth NT resident whose death will be notified as H1N1-related in accordance with national reporting criteria.

RDH staff extends sincere sympathy to the patient's family and friends for their sad loss. In consideration of family privacy, no further details of the case will be released.

25 people whose conditions include H1N1 influenza are currently inpatients in NT hospitals: 17 at RDH, 6 at Alice Springs Hospital and 2 at Katherine District Hospital.
