Top End quitters sought

Friday 23 October

Time is running out for Top Enders wishing to attend the next round of Quit Smoking courses starting 27 October.

The workshops are free, interactive, held in small groups and will be held at Palmerston Community Care Centre.

"The NT has the highest smoking rate in Australia and we really need to kick the habit," said Community Care Centre Nurse Fionnuala O'Neill.

"Almost 28 per cent of people in the NT smoke- compared to the national average of 18 percent.

"Many people who came to our last round of Quit Courses have managed to break free of the smoking habit.

"Dependence on tobacco is psychological and physical and the courses give you a range of real world options to help deal with this dependency."

The course is run in partnership with Quitline, so follow-up after and between the two session courses is just a phone call away. This Palmerston session starts on Tuesday 27 October from 1.30 pm.

Bookings are essential. Phone Palmerston Community Care Centre on 8999 3344.
