Alcohol and Other Drug Resources

Given the vast collection of alcohol and other drug resources available on the internet, sometimes it can be difficult to determine what up-to-date and credible material is. Some information is too technical, too medicalised, too out of date, too confusing or assumes too much prior knowledge.

ADIS provides 24-hour 7-day telephone counselling, information and referral for people with an alcohol or drug problem. People can access immediate counselling and support including crisis intervention, support in dealing with the impact of drug use on the family, information on how to reduce the harm associated with drug use and information and referral to treatment and support services across the NT. People of all ages and backgrounds - anyone in the community who is affected by alcohol or drug use, eg: people using drugs, concerned family members and friends as well as health care professionals.

    DrugInfo Clearinghouse is a service provided by the Australian Drug Foundation (ADF). The core purposes of the ADF are to prevent drug problems and reduce drug-related harms; and to help people remain safe if, when and while they use drugs

  • Australian National Council on Drugs
    The Australian National Council on Drugs (ANCD) is the principal advisory body to Government on drug policy and plays a critical role in ensuring the voice of the community is heard in relation to drug related policies and strategies. Membership of the ANCD includes people with a wide range of experience and expertise on various aspects of drug policy, such as treatment, rehabilitation, education, family counselling, law enforcement, research and work at the coalface in community organisations.

    The Alcohol and other Drugs Council of Australia (ADCA) is the peak, national, non-government organisation representing the interests of the Australian alcohol and other drugs sector, providing a national voice for people working to reduce the harm caused by alcohol and other drugs.
