CanNET Consumer Survey

The CanNET Consumer Survey aimed to provide a baseline snapshot of the perceptions and experiences of the cancer care delivered across Australia in various health care sectors and geographical locations, by people affected by cancer. This baseline will be used to monitor progress over time and feed into the continuous improvement of the cancer services involved with national CanNET projects.

Cancer Australia partnered with five of the seven jurisdictions (NT, SA, TAS, QLD and WA) involved in the CanNET Project to conduct the CanNET Consumer Survey  with Campbell Research & Consulting (CR&C) who were contracted to conduct the survey.

A survey instrument was developed with the key objectives being to:

  • Gain baseline information about the current strengths and gaps in cancer care delivery across Australia from a consumer perspective.
  • Provide information to the cancer care sector to support the development of strategies to strengthen the delivery of cancer care to the Australian community.

This initiative was undertaken in two phases with the first phase centred on focus groups and interviews with providers and consumers of cancer care services. The survey instrument was designed based on those consultations. The second phase focussed on the administration of the survey by CR&C.
