Tennant Creek Hospital Career Opportunities

Tennant Creek Hospital  is a modern 20 bed acute care hospital that includes a 24 hour Accident and Emergency Department, General Ward, Paediatric Ward, Maternity services - antenatal and postnatal midwifery care, and renal dialysis service.

Tennant Creek township is located on the Stuart Highway 510km north of Alice Springs and 670km south of Katherine and 700km west from Mt Isa. The district has a population of approximately 5,600 people and with approximately 3,500 in the township of Tennant Creek. The hospital works closely with the local General Practitioner, Aboriginal Health organisations, and with rural and remote sections of the Barkly Health Services.

Medical Officers must have full registration with the Northern Territory Medical Board and should ideally have broad postgraduate experience in generalist medicine, with recent experience in hospital practice, including emergency medicine and paediatric medicine. Experience in obstetric and renal medicine would be beneficial. Previous rural medical experience will be regarded favourably. Doctors with less than two years postgraduate experience should not apply. Accommodation is available on campus. Tennant Creek Hospital is unable to provide supervised practice places for international medical graduates.

Working in remote and indigenous medicine is challenging yet both interesting and rewarding.
