Healthy Under 5 Kids Education Package has been developed in a partnership between the DoH and Charles Darwin University to better support practitioners working in remote areas to deliver preventative child health care. This package has been carefully designed to increase levels of knowledge and skill about young children's needs, as well as the Child Health program, to assist remote based staff become more effective in Child and Family Health.
The 8 module package includes information about normal child health and development, the Healthy Under 5 Kids Program, use of development and assessment tools, social and emotional wellbeing and how to work in partnership with parents. Participants are given 12 weeks to complete the 20 hour package, which attracts 20 RNCA professional development points, and which may also be utilised as credit towards the Graduate Diploma of Child and Family Health at Charles Darwin University.
The workbook can be accessed online through the Remote Health Atlas, and also as an eBook via the internet. Alternatively a CD can be obtained when you enrol.
