The Chronic Conditions Strategy Unit (CCSU) and Health Development Branch work closely with multiple internal and external health organisations to provide a range of short courses for health professionals across the Northern Territory.
These courses provide an introduction to the best practice management of varying specialist chronic conditions. All courses can be accessed on the Health Intranet by staff only on the Training Calendar or by contacting the CCSU team.

Diabetes Foot | The course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and practical skills in foot care to provide clinical services and promote client self management. Cardiac Care | This course aims to provide health professionals with skills to undertake a comprehensive systematic approach to prevention, management and treatment of cardiac conditions in a community setting. The course will examine the current and future trends in population health statistics focusing on cardiac conditions, current best practice to the prevention and early detection using Cardio Vascular Risk assessment tools, best practice management of cardiac disorders based on current Standard Treatment Manuals and care coordination: systematic approach to managing cardiac disorders in a community setting. | 1 day | All Health Professionals in the Northern Territory | Cardiac Care |
Respiratory | This course includes examination of current public health statistics and issues affecting respiratory health in the NT as well as best practice prevention, management and treatment of common respiratory disorders. Renal Care Coordination | This course combines the renal anaemia educational day, followed by 2 days of renal specific education and 1 day of palliative care education. Breath Easy Walk Easy | The Australian Lung Foundation designed this workshop to provide participants with knowledge and skills to implement Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programs in a community setting on an individual or group basis.
