Area Service Managers

Manage remote Health and Family services in specific geographical areas as outlined in the Remote Health Service Areas Map. The primary role is to deliver core Primary Health Care services, promote systematic reform and continuous quality improvement. They are required to develop effective links between Aboriginal Medical Services, Government Services and Non Government Organisations in the area to ensure service delivery and coordination.

Public Health Co-ordinators

Co-ordinate accessible, well integrated, public health services for remote communities and outstations located in their assigned region. Public Health Co-ordinators assist Health Centre Managers to increase capacity for public health services to respond to the changing complexity and volume of care required at community level with increased focus on preventative activities, health literacy and family centred care.

Nurse Practioners (N5)

A Nurse Practitioner (N5) undertakes a supervised advanced clinical practice role with clinical mentorship in a remote primary health care context. They concurrently undertake post-graduate study leading to endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner. Within a nursing model of practice, they provide advanced clinical decision-making, including advanced health assessment, appropriate use of diagnostic and therapeutic interventions to provide evidenced based collaborative care for individuals, families and communities.

Nurse Practitioner (N4)

A Nurse Practitioner (N4) undertakes a supervised advanced clinical practice role with clinical mentorship in a remote primary health care context. They concurrently undertake post-graduate study leading to endorsement as a Nurse Practioner. Within a nursing model of practice, they will provide advanced clinical decision-making, including advanced health assessment, appropriate use of diagnostic and therapeutic interventions to provide evidenced based collaborative care for individuals, families and communities.

Aboriginal Community Workers

Work within the Health Centres and assist to promote health and wellbeing programs in the Community. These positions are targeted at local Aboriginal people and complement the Aboriginal Health Worker (AHW) roles, however they do not have the training or ability to assist in Clinical practice, as this is the AHW role.
