The Health Promotion Strategy Unit recognises the need to support and further develop the capacity of a range of health professionals to undertake health promotion practice. The Health Promotion Education and Training Officer provides leadership in planning, developing, implementing and evaluating education, training and professional development opportunities to strengthen health promotion capacity in the NT.
Part of the Education and Training Officer's role is to liaise with educational institutions to encourage and foster Health Promotion in existing and potential educational pathways. Involves working in close partnership with local government and educational institutions; these include:
- Charles Darwin University
- Menzies School of Health Research
- Department of Education and Training
Similarly Health Promotion Education and Training Officer is involved in identifying Health Promotion professional development opportunities and needs of operational Department of Health and families staff members, and arranging to have them met where feasible. This involves extensive liaison with staff and managers to support and facilitate improved health promotion.
