The policy frameworks and standards that form part of the National Mental Health Strategy guide the delivery of mental health services in the Northern Territory.
There are three key overarching national safety and quality frameworks to which NT Mental Health Services aspire. These are the:
- National Standards for Mental Health Services;
- National Practice Standards for the Mental Health Workforce; and
- National Safety Priorities in Mental Health: A National Plan for Reducing Harm.
In addition to the core standards documents outlined above, there are two principles documents that focus on particular aspects of mental health service delivery. These are the:
- National Safe Transport Principles; and
- National Emergency Mental Health Principles.
