General Nutrition

image: "Go for 2 and 5" The Department launched a Territory wide campaign to promote the increased consumption of fruit and vegetables in April 2005.

With a tag line of "Go for 2 & 5", Territorians are encouraged to increase their consumption to 2 serves of fruit and 5 serves of vegetables per day, in line with the Australian Dietary Guidelines.

A range of activities has been held in all regions of the Territory, including cooking demonstrations, educational talks, sharing of policy development ideas, such as in school canteens and visits to schools and communities by Vegie Man who is the spokesperson for the campaign.

The campaign has been supported by television commercials, print advertising, a website , brochures, booklets, posters and other merchandise.

Activity is coordinated on a regional basis to reflect identified needs in each area. To find out what is happening in your region, contact your local nutrition team.
