Together, Government and the Community will work to provide programs, policies and environments that support people become more active in the places where they live, study and work.
Why "find 30"?
"find 30" is a call to action for all Territorians to put together at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity (like walking) on most, preferably all days, as recommended by the National physical activity guidelines for adults.
Visit our Active Living in the NT page to see the many opportunities that already exist for Territorians to be active.
How active are Territorians?
In 2003, the Northern Territory Physical Activity Survey, non-Indigenous population was undertaken by the Department of Health and Community Services (DHCS), in partnership with the National Heart Foundation (NT Division). It found that just 55% of non-Indigenous Territorians aged 18-54 years engaged in sufficient physical activity for health benefits, that is, participating in 30 minutes of moderate activity on most days of the week (for a total of 150 minutes/week).
