What is the Palmerston Urgent Care After-Hours Service?
The free Palmerston Urgent Care After-Hours Service operates from 6.00 pm to 8.00 am, seven days per week. It gives you access to medical care - a General Practitioner, Nurse or Paramedic - throughout the night, in some cases eliminating the need to travel to Royal Darwin Hospital.

Please note that visitors to the service are assessed on arrival using a triage system. Patients who require treatment most urgently will be seen first.
The Palmerston Urgent Care After-Hours Service does:
- Provide urgent treatment for illnesses such as allergic reactions, acute vomiting, and fevers in children.
- Provide treatment for accidents such as cuts, sprains and falls.
The Palmerston Urgent Care After-Hours Service does not:
- Replace a regular GP appointment. The Urgent Care After-Hours Service is for urgent medical treatment only.
- Offer Emergency Department services. In an emergency, you should go to the Royal Darwin Hospital Emergency Department or dial 000.
- Offer radiography and imaging services
What about an emergency? Should I dial 000?
Yes! In an emergency, dial 000 and ask for an Ambulance. Alternatively, go to the Royal Darwin Hospital Emergency Department. The Urgent Care After-Hours Service is not an Emergency Department substitute.
