The NT Government is committed to providing an interim urgent care after-hours medical service to operate in Palmerston, until the Super Clinic is constructed and is fully operational.
The Palmerston Urgent Care After-Hours Service is a free urgent care medical service for Palmerston residents open from 6pm to 8am. It commenced operation on 15 December 2008 from the Palmerston Health Precinct Specialist Suites.
A GP is on site every night between 6pm and 8am to provide assistance for urgent medical cases.
The service ensures the Palmerston community has greater access to urgent after hours care - it is not providing an alternative general practice service and it is not an alternative emergency department.
The urgent care after-hours service does not replace your normal GP. We want to support local GPs and if the issue is something that you would normally make an appointment with your GP for then you should do so.
You might attend the service if it is after-hours and you have a sick child, a sprained ankle or a cut that needs stitching.

What about an Emergency? Should I dial 000?
YES! The urgent care after hours service is NOT AN EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT. If you have an emergency medical situation you should call 000 and take advice from the emergency services operator.

Yes. The NT Health Direct phone service is still available for medical advice 24 hours a day.
The Palmerston Urgent Care After Hours Service is the place to go if you need urgent treatment from a doctor but if you are unsure how urgent your condition is or simply need some comforting advice, the NT Health Direct phone service will be of assistance.

What is the Palmerston Super Clinic?
The Palmerston Super Clinic is a joint health initiative of the Northern Territory and Australian Governments.
When complete the new Super Clinic will provide a range of health services for Palmerston residents focusing on:
- chronic disease self management
- coordinated care closer to home
- integrated multi-disciplinary team approaches.
The Palmerston Super Clinic will be located in the Palmerston Health Precinct, and planning for the new building is currently underway.
