Stinger (Box Jellyfish) Season

Stinger Season

Box Jellyfish can be deadly and cause agonising pain

October to May: Stinger Season

Avoid getting stung. Do not enter the sea and most importantly do not let children enter the sea during stinger season. Beware of shallow water in creeks and near boat ramps, and wear protective clothing when fishing or boating. Even in surf conditions Box Jellyfish may be present.

June to September

Take care if you go swimming and consider protective clothing (long sleeved tops with shorts or a sunsuit) as stings have occurred in all months of the year. Small children are at greatest risk, so always cover them up and keep a clost watch.
